Tutorial — How To Make Chocolate-Covered Oreos®

Chocolate covered Oreos made with our Imperial Cherry Blossom guest soap mold

Our heavy duty guest soap molds are a perfect size for making chocolate-covered Oreos®. It's a fun project to do... and easy, too!

What you need:

  • Heavy duty guest soap molds
  • DoubleStuf Oreo® cookies
  • chocolate
  • white chocolate or colored candy wafers (optional for a color contrast)

What to do:

  • Melt the chocolate in a microwave or double boiler. Be careful not to let it get too hot.
  • To make designs with a color contrast, you will need melted white chocolate or colored wafers. The easiest way to color the design is to paint it with a brush or use a squeeze bottle to fill in the design portion of the mold. Don't forget to tap the mold lightly on a solid surface to remove any air bubbles.
  • Pour dark chocolate into the mold until the cavities are approximately one-third full. Tap the mold on the table again to remove any air pockets.
  • Embed the Oreo® cookie in the melted chocolate. (Note: Be sure to center the cookie in the mold cavity horizontally and vertically. As you press the cookie into the mold, the chocolate will rise up around the sides and only the top of the cookie will be visible.)
  • Fill the mold to the top with dark chocolate. Tap the mold again to remove air and smooth off the top if necessary with a knife or spatula.
  • To unmold the chocolate-covered Oreos®, let them harden, then place the mold in the refrigerator until the outside is cold to the touch. Turn the mold upside down (over wax paper!) and press gently on the back of each cavity to unmold. Your beautiful chocolate-covered Oreos® should slide right out!
