Castor Oil - 7 oz
Avocado Oil - 8 oz
Coconut - 12 oz
Palm - 12 oz
Lye - 8.70 oz
Water - 12 oz
Goat Milk - 12 oz
Grapefruit Seed Extract - 16 gm
At trace:
Castor Oil - 1 oz, with Lemongrass EO 50 cc and Orange EO 25 cc (note: 5 cc = 1 tsp)
Calendula Petals, 3 - 4 Tbsp chopped
This recipe is 6% discounted; however, I believe the Nigerian Dwarf Goat Milk (which has shown to be around 6 - 10% butterfat with test animals) makes this a more superfatted bar.
I know there are many ways to make soap, but below are the instructions on how I make/made mine.
Dissolve lye in water and cool to about 80°. Melt coconut and palm together, then add to liquid oils (temp around 90 - 100 when ready to add lye solution.) I place the lye in the sink with ice water and have a thermometer on the side and whisk the goat milk slowly while monitoring the lye/water temperature to keep < 95°. When the lye solution is about 90°, I add it slowly to the oil mixture. Stir until trace and then add fragrance, which has already been mixed into castor oil. Pour into molds and stack in Styrofoam cooler, separated by waxed paper covered cardboard for 48 hours. Unmold - wait 4 weeks and Enjoy!
